KUCHING: The 30th Kuching Scout from Chung Hua Primary School No.3 clinched the top spot in the recent Kuching City District Scout Night held at the Islamic Information Centre (IIC).
The group triumphed in the Cub Scout dance category with their Macarena Dance. The 21st Kuching Scout from SK Kenyalang secured second place performing Tarian Joget, followed by the 30th Kuching Scout, again from Chung Hua Primary School No. 3, with Burst of Courage for third place.
In the Scout singing category, victory was claimed by the 5th Kuching Scout from SMK Kuching High, enchanting the audience with “Brightest Star In The Night Sky & You Raise Me Up.” The 23rd Kuching Scout from SM Chung Hua No.1 took second place with “Paddy Fragrance ‘Homesick’.”
The Senior Scout category saw the 56th Kuching Scout of St. Joseph Private Secondary School winning with their performance, “The Spirit of Kenyalang.” The 5th Kuching Scout from SMK Kuching High earned second place with a Traditional Dance, and the 16th Kuching Scout from Chung Hua Middle School No.4 landed third place with “Rojaklah Happy Happy Bompipi.”
“All the performances kept the audience clapping their hands and cheering to support their fellow scouts or their children on the stage,” said the Scout Commissioner for Kuching City assistant district and the Organising Committee chairman Anthony Jee Tze Choon in a statement today (Jan 2).
Also present were Juma’at Ibrahim and Kho Ik Teck, vice presidents of the Sarawak Scout Council; Peter Chai, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sarawak Scout Council; Capt. Zainuddin Tan Sri Hamdan, Chief Scout Commissioner of Sarawak; Teo Yan Cheok, president of Kuching City Scout Council; and Lee Kong Shin, chairman of Kuching City Scout Council.
