Deputy minister extends vital aid to Tabuan Melayu families

KUCHING: Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni extended crucial aid to the families of 150 individuals in the Tabuan Melayu Zone.
The event, held at Masjid Darus Sa’adah in Kampung Tabuan Melayu on Monday (Jan 1), witnessed the distribution of Funeral Assistance and Higher Education Assistance.
“Dr Hazland’s outreach, part of an ongoing 11-year programme during his tenure as the assemblyman of Demak Laut, reflects his unwavering commitment to supporting the community,” stated a press release issued on Tuesday (Jan 2).
In his address to bereaved families, Dr Hazland encouraged them to explore assistance from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM), emphasising the importance of accessing various welfare schemes tailored to their needs.
These schemes encompass Child Assistance, Foster Child Assistance, Elderly Assistance, Disability Worker Allowance, Federal General Assistance, State General Assistance, Disabled Unemployed Assistance, Abandoned Disabled/Chronically Ill Assistance, and Internship Training Assistance.
Providing valuable advice to students pursuing higher education, he urged them to focus on skill enhancement for better employability. Acknowledging the demand for technical skills, especially in emerging industries like Hydro Technology, Solar, Hydrogen, Carbon Management, Micro-Algae, and Synthetic Energy, he noted the need for family members considering tertiary education to choose courses strategically.
As a testament to his commitment, Dr Hazland disbursed RM30,000 in contributions to 100 relatives of the deceased, providing each with RM300. Additionally, 25 diploma-level students and 25 undergraduate students received RM500 and RM700 each, respectively, totaling RM30,000 in contributions for higher education. The overall value of the aid extended in this programme reached RM60,000.
“He clarified that these contributions are one-time, aiming to alleviate immediate financial burdens and uplift the spirits of the recipients. He expressed hope that the aid would be used responsibly,” the statement added.
The event was also attended by village chief Amzah Dollah, Village Chiefs (KK) of Kampung Tabuan Melayu, Councillor Othman Bujang, Councillor Saamah Bojeng, Darus Sa’adah Mosque Management Committee Members, Deputy Chief of PBB Demak Laut Branch (Men) Rahmat Sabang, Deputy Chief of PBB Demak Laut Branch (Women) Fatimah and Rokiah Temben, along with Branch Chiefs and Women of PBB Demak Laut Branch (Tabuan Zone).
