KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a local woman RM2,700 in default three months in prison for abusing drugs last month.
Nurasmida Sebli, 33, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi to a charge framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act.
If convicted, it carries up to two years imprisonment or a fine up to RM5,000 and be placed under police supervision for a term of up to three years.
The court also ordered her to be placed under police supervision for two years after settling the fine or serving her time.
Nurasmida was committed the offence at the Kuching Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) office at around 3.25 am on Dec 9 last year.
She was tested positive for methylenedioxy-amphetamine (MDA) and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) drugs, which are listed under the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Insp Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case while Nurasmida was unrepresented by a counsel.
