KUCHING: Sarawakian Nur Hazirah Ramli will represent the country at the International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Youth Cup in Peru from Jan 19 to 24.
“I look forward to 2024 with all the experiences gained and aim to further enhance myself as an athlete.
“By focusing on growth and the thought process, I believe this year will be as good or even better than last year. I ended last year with a few titles, podium finishes, as well as a bronze medal at the Asian Youth Championship,” the junior bowler said recently
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, Hazirah is also expected to participate in the World Youth Cup, World Youth Championships, and the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak this year.
Meanwhile, Hazirah’s mentor and coach Angelo Koay, described 2023 as an amazing year for the 21-year-old athlete.
“It’s no wonder she performed well and maintained a consistently high level throughout the year.
In the training programmes of the Sarawak Amateur Tenpin Bowling Association (ABAS), the goal is to train the athletes beyond the national level.
“The state has equipped them with technical and tactical knowledge, strengthened by holistic physical conditions and fortified with the mentality of ‘Anang Ngalah Majak Mansang’ (never give up easily),” he said.
