KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a Johorean RM3,000 in default three months in prison for possessing 0.10g of methamphetamine when he was arrested at a rugby field in September last year.

Azman Husaini, 39, from Senai, Johor pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi to a charge framed under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act.

If convicted, he may face a fine up to RM100,000 or imprisonment up to five years or both.

He committed the offence in the stands of the Padungan Rugby Stadium, at about 10.30 am on Sept 14 last year.

According to the facts of the case, the police arrested a man who was sitting at the rugby field stands under suspicious circumstances and believed to be involved in drug activities.

Inspections led to the discovery of a plastic packet containing crystalline pieces in a wallet handed over by Azman himself.

The goods were taken to the Chemistry Department and reports confirmed that it was a methamphetamine type drug weighing 0.10g.
