KAPIT: The slope repair works at KM0+100 along Jalan Selirik and the temporary closure of two lanes are currently 80 per cent completed.
An inspection of the slope repair works was carried out by PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, together with Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Law) Datuk Jefferson Jamit and the Public Works Department (PWD) on Sunday.
During the visit, Jefferson and PWD had agreed to reopen the lane to traffic on January 8.
However, he advised road users to exercise caution while using the route and to be patient and cooperative.
The community is also urged to be patient during the project implementation, to ensure that there are no delays in the project.
Jefferson was also briefed on the overview of the project as well as complaints received from road users during the road closure period, which caused traffic congestion.
According to the original schedule, the project is expected to be completed by January 20, but efforts are being made to finish it earlier than scheduled.
Jefferson said the completion of the repair works is crucial as the road closure has resulted in traffic congestion on diverted roads, especially during peak hours and school sessions
Also present at the inspection was Kapit Division Resident Galong Luang.
