KUCHING: The Digital Ministry will work closely with the Sarawak government to facilitate the national digital transformation process.

Its minister Gobind Singh Deo noted that the Sarawak government was already firmly committed to steering the state towards a digital future.

“I can see that Sarawak, under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, has a clear direction in ensuring that the state does not lag behind and continues to move forward in terms of digitalisation,” he said after paying a courtesy visit to the Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

He said his visit served as a platform to discuss the perspectives and strategies employed by the Sarawak government in its digital transformation journey.

“I find that most states have started the digitalisation process and have their own state directions… we want to move the national agenda, and this (meeting) saves time because work has already begun (at the state level), so we just move from there,” he said.

Gobind said the meetings would also ensure that the goals of the existing digital sector in all states could be aligned with the direction of the ministry, which would be announced May the latest.

“We hope that in the next three or four months, we will be able to make an announcement on the direction of the Digital Ministry that aligns with what we see as the direction in each state.”
