KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of popular Japanese manga and anime series SPYxFAMILY can look forward to a limited edition series of collectibles specially available at Guardian physical and online stores throughout the country.
Guardian Malaysia marketing director Anna Ng could not contain her excitement as she shared that the local pharmacy chain is currently offering four collectible sets based on the series’ main characters, Loid Forger, Yor Forger and Anya Forger at the price of RM99 per set.
Customers can purchase the set of their choice after spending RM20 on participating brands such as Aiken, Bio Essence, Lóreal Dermo-Expertise, Eucerin, Garnier, Lóreal, Maybelline, Nivea Skin and Sunsilk, or RM50 for other brands in a single receipt, she said.
“This is the best opportunity to collect these limited edition collectibles based on one of the most popular anime and best-selling Japanese manga series,” she added, pointing out that the collectibles are actually carefully thought out practical items that will suit any individual’s active lifestyle.
The first collectible set, LOID FORGER, is modelled after the super spy who masquerades as the father of the Loid family. Valued at RM199, the set has been available from Dec 27 and has a Loid 14 inch laptop sleeve, a Loid acrylic phone holder and Loid lenticular waterproof stickers, all contained in a stylish unique Loid Design Box.
YOR FORGER, the second collectible set, is inspired by the assassin who chooses to become a mother and wife to keep her deadly profession a secret. In line with Yor’s elegance and femininity, the set, worth RM199, is a specially-crafted Yor Design Box filled with a Yor Beauty pouch, an acrylic Yor key chain with mirror and Yor lenticular waterproof stickers. It will be available from Jan 11 onwards.
The third collectible set, ANYA FORGER, is based on the young child of the Forger family, who can actually read people’s thoughts. Her collection, worth RM230, boasts of a special Anya Design Box filled with spy goodies that will make her favourite TV character, Bondman green with envy, including an Anya A4 folder, an Anya 500 pieces puzzle box, an Anya memory game cards pack and Anya lenticular waterproof stickers. The set will be available from Jan 25 onwards.
Last but not least, the fourth collection, the Forger Series Box pack, will be released on Feb 28 and its exact contents seem to be quite a closely guarded secret thus far.
For the uninitiated, SPYxFAMILY is a manga series written and drawn by Tatsuya Endo about a spy on an undercover mission who gets married and adopts a child, just to preserve his cover. Little does he know that his adopted daughter is a telepath, and the woman who agrees to marry him is a very skilled assassin.
The anime series based on the manga was voted No 1 Most Popular Web Comic in 2019 and reached 480 million views in August 2022. SPYxFAMILY has over 34 million copies in circulation as of December 2023, becoming one of the best-selling manga series ever. – BERNAMA
