MIRI: A group of 12 diploma students at Curtin University Malaysia participated in a community service programme at the Miri Methodist Children’s Home in Krokop.

The day-long programme was aimed at providing emotional support and cater to the daily and educational needs of the children at the home.

The 12 students are pursuing diplomas in Information Technology, Media, and Commerce.

They engaged with the home’s 16 primary school age children, helping them enhance their understanding of the subjects learnt in school by holding homework tutoring sessions.

Additionally, interactive and fun games and activities were conducted for the children.

The students also presented donated daily necessities such as food ingredients and cleaning products, as well as a cash donation of RM500 to the home.

They also presented stationery items to the children for their schooling needs.

Supervisor-in-charge of the home, Wong Huong Hann, expressed gratitude to the Curtin students.

“It was a very meaningful gesture and the children really enjoyed the experience. We also thank them for all the donations.”
