KUCHING: The renovation of the Kueh Siak Hong Hawker Centre has concluded 10 days earlier than planned, according to Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
During a live stream on Facebook this Tuesday (Jan 9), he revealed that the hawker centre, currently undergoing inspection, will be handed over to MBKS upon the completion of the inspection process.
“If any issues arise, the contractor will have to rectify them before it can be handed over.
“We hope to have this hawker centre ready before the upcoming Chinese New Year,” he said when visiting the hawker centre at Jalan Kueh Siak Hong, Sekama here.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the upgraded hawker centre is intended to serve as a ‘model’ for others to emulate.
“We are in the process of planning how to turn it into a model hawker stall, including the types of stalls to introduce and setting operation hours.
“Our goal is to provide customers with a comfortable and hygienic dining environment. Despite only accommodating 10 stalls, we will ensure variety by filtering stalls to make sure customers can have diverse choices.”
