MIRI: The second floor of a two-storey house at Jalan Piasau Utara 6, Taman Piasau, was badly damaged in a morning fire today (Jan 11).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as a tenant managed to evacuate to safety.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firemen from Miri and Lopeng stations were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 10.11 am.
Upon arrival, they confirmed the incident and promptly carried out the extinguishing operation.
As a result, the fire had caused 70 per cent damages to the upper floor of the house.
Once the situation was deemed safe and there is no risk of reignition, the team concluded the operation and departed back to their stations.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
