KUCHING: A Perodua Kelisa parked at Taman Flora Indah here, faced extensive damage as it succumbed to a blaze this afternoon (Jan 11).
The incident, which occurred at 2.26pm, resulted in the front part of the vehicle being destroyed.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Batu Lintang station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they found that the engine bay of the car suffered about 70 percent damage in the incident.
The team successfully extinguished the flames at 2.50pm with water sourced from the fire truck.
The team concluded their operation after ensuring that the situation was safe and there is no risk of reignition.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
