SIBU: Insurance companies have been urged to be altruistic when promoting insurance packages.
In making the call, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said this will be in the interest of their clients in the event of emergencies.
He said insurance is the protection mechanism for modern people to build a happy life and a better future.
“It is our reassurance when encountering an unexpected accident. Perfect insurance measures can reduce hidden worries in our daily lives and support us to be more courageous, courage to pursue your life goals.
“Therefore, the role of insurance practitioners is very important,” he said at a gala dinner in conjunction with the 14th National Mandarin Life Insurance & Financial Management Summit (ManLifPS) here on Sunday (Jan 14).
“Since the entry threshold for insurance is low, those with experience should selflessly share their experience with newcomers and pay attention to the cultivation and training of quality talents in order to create a healthier and more resilient society,” he added.
Tiong was represented by councillor Joshua Ting who delivered his speech in Mandarin.
The summit hosted by the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (Namlifa) Sibu Branch drew a total of 800 participants from across the country.
In his speech Tiong also hoped the insurance industry can discuss how to improve insurance packages related to the tourism industry so as to achieve a win-win situation between tourists and tourism operators.
During the occasion, Namlifa Sibu also handed out monetary donations to three charity bodies, namely, Sibu Parkinson’s Society, Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sibu branch and St John’s Ambulance Sibu.
Among those present were Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling, Namlifa national president G.
Saseedaran, Namlifa Sibu Branch chairman Rali Wong and organising chairman Kapitan Thomas Tiang.
