KUCHING: The Malaysia-Korea Charity Gala Night 2024 held at Damai Lagoon Resort, Santubong last night (Jan 20) successfully raised a total of RM183,270.

The significant sum was collected after an unexpected yet eagerly anticipated performance by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The memorable moment unfolded when esteemed guests, deeply moved by the event, called for the Premier to join Malaysian celebrity artist Jaclyn Victor and others in singing ‘Bekikis Bulu Betis.’

The evening’s entertainment commenced with a performance by Jaclyn Victor, who later teased the audience with the promise of a big surprise. The impromptu request for the Premier’s participation added a unique touch to the night, fostering an atmosphere of unity and shared joy.

Joining Abang Johari on stage were Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Datuk Hussain, Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and his deputy Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.

The Premier and his distinguished colleagues not only sang ‘Bekikis Bulu Betis’ but also danced the ‘Poco Poco,’ bringing guests to the dance floor.

To conclude the night on a high note and mark the success of the charity event, generous contributors were acknowledged.

OCIM made a substantial donation of RM50,000, and Datin Patinggi Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon-Chan also contributed RM50,000 to support the cause.
