SARATOK: Community fire brigades will be established across the Kalaka constituency from this year.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said the aim is to ensure every resident has knowledge on fire safety.

According to him, his service centre will collaborate with the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station as well as several bodies (sponsors) to ensure the community fire brigade comes to being.

“Following the fire that destroyed two homes in Kampung Perpat and Kupang last year, we are taking an aggressive approach to raise awareness about fire safety.

“Therefore, community fire brigades will be established in all areas.”

He said this after the Sri Aman Zone fire safety awareness programme of the Fire and Rescue Department in Kampung Kupang, yesterday.

Through the community fire brigades, he explained, the community is expected to master how to put out fires.

Mohamad is also committed to providing portable pumps and equipment to all community fire brigades.
