ACTOR Shukri Yahaya has stepped forward and apologised for a scene in his new drama ‘Layang-Layang Perkahwinan’, which many had claimed to be borderline ‘soft porn’.
Shukri admitted that his mistake was not taking public sensitivity into account before making the scene.
“I humbly apologise. It was entirely my mistake. The scene was actually done on the first day of shooting.
“I was overexcited about the scene and got too carried away. It won’t happen again,” he said in a statement to the media.
Shukri was speaking at a press conference on ‘Layang-Layang Perkahwinan’ held at Restoran Rebung in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Speaking about the incident, Shukri explained that he preferred to do research on any scene only on the actual day of the shoot.
“I don’t like reading scripts. I’m the type who will get to the set first and then interpret the scene based on the script received.
“I initially thought that it was just a small scene. It was also the first day of shooting, so I was overexcited about playing the role well,” he said.
A video of the scene had previously gone viral, in which Shukri is shown taking a shower before his co-star, actress Alya Iman, also joins him. Shukri, who is shirtless, then pulls Alya’s hand before she offers a smile.
The clip had garnered various comments on social media, with many panning the racy nature of the scene.
