BAU: The residents of Kampung Stass and surrounding areas, including Kampung Skibang and Kampung Sebobok, have warmly welcomed the initiative of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Sarawak to set up a physical counter for the Central Database Hub (PADU) at the Community Centre (PKD) in Stass.
A survey by the Bau District Information Department (JaPen) found that local residents, aged 18 and above, had flooded the location as early as 8 am in response to the government’s call to launch a single platform known as the PADU system on January 2.
The department in a statement said the locals are aware that the registration and updating process in the PADU system aims to be the government’s primary source for the distribution of subsidies and targeted aid.
According to the manager of the Stass Community Centre Ignatius Felix, the presence of three Sarawak statistics officers, namely Mac ‘Nilton Pura, Amanda, and Irene Felicity, aims to assist the community in registering and updating information in the PADU system from 8 am to 5 pm daily from January 25 to 28.
He said their presence would help the community without internet access and those not proficient in using digital technology, especially the elderly.
“The community attending the counter should bring their identity card, a copy of their household identification card, bank account information, and a mobile phone when dealing with the PADU counter,” he said.
Ignatius asserted that the Stass community and surrounding areas that they could also register and update information on the website www.padu.gov.my.
Additionally, he added that the spacious parking area, comfortable waiting space, internet facilities, and computers make the physical PADU counter at PKD Stass the preferred choice for PADU transactions for the Stass, Skibang, and Sebobok communities.
Meanwhile, the Bau JaPen team, consisting of Denis Etem, Denny Asip, and Hafizan Hasahari, continues to disseminate materials in the Bau area to encourage Malaysians, aged 18 and above, to participate in this programme.
