KUCHING: MagnumCares continues its initiative, the ‘Welfare Homes Outreach’ programme, which aims to spread joy and happiness in anticipation of the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

The programme, which supports senior citizens, disabled communities (PwDs), and orphans, has impacted over 20,000 lives nationwide. It operates in more than 230 welfare homes and contributes over RM770,000 in donations, festive goodies, essential groceries, and ‘ang pows’.

In Sarawak, a total of 34 selected welfare homes with over 3000 individuals have benefited from MagnumCares’ ‘Welfare Homes Outreach’ program, receiving a total donation of RM 104,000.00 this year.

Recently, MagnumCares distributed ‘ang pows’ and goodie bags to various welfare homes in Kuching, including Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Kuching, Home of Peace, Sarawak Blind Centre, Sarawak Cheshire Home, Society for the Deaf, and Perkata Special School.

The initiative aims to enhance the living conditions and overall well-being of residents in these welfare homes through the implementation of the ‘Home Enhancement Programme’ (HEP).

The programme focuses on the 3Rs activities—Repairing, Refurnishing, and Replacing—where infrastructure improvements and enhancements to essential amenities are carried out.

These activities involve installing eco-friendly LED lights, replacing old furniture and appliances, painting and renovating homes, decorating green spaces, and building or refurbishing therapy and play areas for special needs children.

“As we celebrate the 40th year of our ‘Welfare Homes Outreach’ program, we are honoured to continue our commitment to making a positive impact on the communities we serve,” said Datuk Chan Chee Fai, Magnum’s Executive Vice President – Group Chief Commercial Officer.

“Chinese New Year represents hope and new beginnings, and we are delighted to contribute to creating a brighter future for all, embodying the MagnumCares slogan of ‘For You, With You’ in all our initiatives,” added Chan.

Furthermore, MagnumCares invites its customers to join their Project Magnum Hearts initiative in bringing festive cheer this Chinese New Year.

By scanning their Magnum 4D tickets on the MyMagnum 4D app, customers can accumulate ‘Hearts’ that can be used to support the mission of refurbishing more welfare homes and schools.

Chan encouraged everyone to work together to make a difference, as the Year of the Dragon brings joy, prosperity, and good health to all.

MagnumCares initiated its annual “Welfare Homes Outreach” programme in 1985, assisting various welfare homes and organizations to enhance their festive celebrations through heartfelt activities and contributions that bring joy and happiness.

The dedication of MagnumCares to corporate social responsibility (CSR) underscores its commitment to championing the community through its three main pillars: Philanthropy, Sustainability & Environment, and Community Development.

The “Welfare Homes Outreach” program serves as a testament to MagnumCares’ enduring vision of fostering positive change and creating a lasting impact on communities in need.
