SARATOK: Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri is pleased that two major projects in the constituency, worth RM180 million, will begin this year.
Mohamad said that the community has eagerly anticipated the construction of a bridge over the Krian River (Pagan Bridge) and the development of the Bajau-Kupang Road for over a decade. Each project, valued at RM90 million, has been approved by the Federal Government.
“I am very grateful to hear that [the projects] are expected to be tendered in the second quarter of this year. I believe the people will be even happier because they are the ones who will benefit from it,” said Mohamad after accompanying Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, to assess the gravel roads currently in use.
In response to a viral video depicting the road’s condition, Mohamad stressed his longstanding advocacy for the road’s improvement, supported by community and local leaders (KMKK).
“We do not act only after something goes viral but continue our efforts consistently from before,” he said.
He also urged the contractor responsible for maintaining the Bajau-Kupang road to increase efficiency.
Additionally, Mohamad hoped that the A5 Package road project, extending from the Batang Saribas Dua Bridge to the Roban intersection near the Pan Borneo Highway, would be completed on schedule, ideally in conjunction with the Batang Saribas Dua Bridge and the Sungai Krian Bridge in Kaba.
