KUCHING: The one-mile long Boulevard project in Kota Samarahan will enhance the vibrancy and dynamics of the local community.
Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos said that the Samarahan Boulevard project’s purpose is to offer entertainment and recreational opportunities for the people of Samarahan.
“This would enable families to particularly enjoy their time on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, making Samarahan an even more vibrant place to live,” he said.
Minos disclosed that the Samarahan Boulevard project, envisioned as an open public area replete with relaxation and entertainment spaces, plants, flowers, and essential public facilities, is anticipated to cost around RM100 million.
He further noted that the project, funded by the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (Irsda) and implemented by MPKS, forms part of the ‘Greater Samarahan’ strategic development initiative.
“The project, located near the MPKS office, is expected to commence tendering later this year. I discussed this project with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg three weeks ago,” Minos told reporters at the Ibraco Gallery at NorthBank today (Jan 26).
“The Premier wants a venue where families can thoroughly enjoy and entertain themselves. Currently, Samarahan lacks sufficient entertainment options for families and residents,” he added.
Present at the launch were MPKS deputy chairman Muttalib Julaihi and acting secretary Lilian Liew.
