KOTA SAMARAHAN: Residents of Taman Samarindah here can look forward to relief from frequent flooding issues as the RM49.3 million flood mitigation project is set to commence this year.

Local residents, Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim, and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Samarahan Division met at the Taman Samarindah Council meeting room for a dialogue session aimed at delving deeper into the matter yesterday.

DID said the project, spanning 48 months, will involve two main drainage channels directing water to Sungai Keranji and Sungai Entingan, respectively.

Hamzah expressed optimism that the project’s prompt implementation will effectively address the flooding issues in Taman Samarindah.

The meeting was attended by Kota Samarahan DID engineer Alsyarossi Safiee and Wahba Sdn Bhd consulting engineer Michael Chang.
