KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) staff are urged to intensify their efforts towards advancing the digital transformation agenda and realising the state civil service’s vision of becoming a world class civil service.
Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the world is facing uncertainty in the global economic scenario and intense competition in present times.
“We have no choice but to become more responsive and integrated. I urge all DBKU staff to continue work together to realise the vision of the Sarawak Public Service, that is, to become a world class civil service and to intensify efforts towards advancing the digital transformation agenda to ensure the sustainability of digital economic development and enhance the quality of the public sector in the modern era.
“Therefore, as public servants, we must always think productively and generate new, innovative ideas that align with current needs and requirements while also being resilient in facing the more challenging waves of change.”
Dr Abdul Rahman said this in his speech during the DBKU Special Assembly at Pengkalan Sapi, Petra Jaya here on Thursday (Feb 1).
He added that with the adoption of a productive thinking culture, it will undoubtedly lead to the implementation of the best measures to succeed in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 agenda.
“As pioneers of excellence in the public sector, DBKU staff should strive to continue driving the transformation agenda through planned and strategic renewal initiatives to realise the aspirations of the Sarawak government.”
Meanwhile, DBKU mayor Hilmy Othman stressed that DBKU staff must be wise in seizing opportunities to innovate and generate new ideas.
“This is to address the complex and constantly changing environment. We cannot wait for opportunities to come to us.
“Furthermore, I would like to emphasise in today’s digital world, ‘Speed Is of the Essence’.”
He said DBKU staff must be more responsive in terms of accelerating actions towards city residents/stakeholders, cultivating innovation, enhancing communication methods, speeding up problem-solving, improving skills and learning and embracing change implementation
“If these principles are practiced, I am confident that DBKU can produce high-quality human capital and a service delivery system that is world class.”
