KUCHING: A robbery case was solved in less than 24 hours after police arrested four local suspects aged between 19 and 32 years old yesterday morning at about 1.30am.
Kuching police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek said on the morning of Thursday, a 24-hour convenience store at Jalan Rock was robbed and a perodua Axia was reportedly used in committing the crime.
Ng said the car was recognised by a member of the public and was seen at another convenience store in Satok.
Police who were monitoring the situation suspected the group to go on another robbery spree.
They managed to trace the vehicle and seized it. Found in the car were masks and sharp weapons. The suspects robbed by using weapons and took away cash and several branded cigarettes.
It is suspected that the arrested suspects were involved in drugs abuse. Police are in the process of probing them pertaining to the matter and related crimes.
The robbery case is investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, each of which provides for maximum imprisonment of 20 years and liable for fines or whipping or both upon conviction.
