KUCHING: A total of 32 in-demand items for the Chinese New Year celebration was sold at a discount during the two-day Rahmah sales programme in Batu Kawa.
The sales, organised by the Batu Kawa service centre in collaboration with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Sarawak was held at Everwin Supermarket Batu Kawa here from Feb 2 until Feb 3.
Political secretary to the Premier Kho Teck Wan said the programme aimed to help people with the rising living costs by partnering with local grocers to provide the items at a discounted price.
“Our Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian had asked the KPDN Sarawak to organise a Jualan Rahmah at Batu Kawa area before the Chinese New Year to help ease the financial burden of Batu Kawa residents while preparing for the Chinese New Year festive season.
“The participating grocer Everwin Supermarket Batu Kawa and KPDN Sarawak had carefully chosen 32 discounted items that are highly demanded during the Chinese New Year such as mandarin orange, sticky rice cake, carrots, can carbonated drink and others for this Jualan Rahmah,” she said in a Facebook post.
Kho, who is also the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) women chief said the two-day Rahmah sales was a successful in obtaining its objective.
“While doing the walk about at the Everwin Batu Kawa, Dr Sim expressed his sincere appreciation to KPDN Sarawak and Everwin Supermarket for working with him to help the community during this very busy festive season,” she said.
