MUKAH: Sports can contribute to the overall development of individuals, improving both their physical abilities and intellectual skills.

Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine said this regimen not only fosters prudence, responsibility, and discipline among athletes but also cultivates a strong sense of identity and leadership.

He said this in a speech, delivered on his behalf by Acting District Officer of Mukah, Peleadzman Ahip, during the 2023 Mukah Taekwon-Do Club Dinner and Appreciation Ceremony at the Kingwood Hotel on Saturday.

Royston highlighted the invaluable support of parents in encouraging their children’s participation in sports competitions and commended the efforts of the head coach of Tunas Mukah Taekwondo Club Zaidi Morshidi, alongside other coaches, for their role in elevating Mukah’s stature in the sports arena and securing successes in various competitions.

During the ceremony, awards such as ‘Best of The Best Fighter’, ‘The Rising Fighter’, ‘Most Excellent Fighter’, and ‘Most Promising Fighter’ were presented to deserving athletes.
