LAWAS: The construction of the Maa’had Tahfiz building in Lawas is expected to be completed by mid-December 2024.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the building is currently at 83 per cent completion.
“The progress has reached 83 per cent and is expected to be completed in December this year,” he said during a visit to the project site on Monday (Feb 5).
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) report, the Bukit Sari assemblyman said the new building would be equipped with various facilities for religious education and other technical classes.
“Apart from the religious education classes, technical classes are important… We will determine the curriculum later.”
During the visit, he took the time to inspect the building’s structure and received a briefing from the construction contractor.
He expressed satisfaction with the construction progress and hoped it would be completed according to the established schedule.
The project is under the Regional Corridor Development Authority with a total cost of RM2,939,738.
Present at the event were Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Resident Unus Tambi, Lawas District officer Ladin Atok, and the director of the Northern Region Development Agency, Datuk Ubaidillah Abdul Latip.
