KUCHING: Police arrested three individuals, including a woman, for allegedly running illegal public lotteries here on Monday (Feb 5).

Acting on public tip-off, a team conducted ‘Ops Dadu’ raids on three premises suspected to be involved in the unlicensed activity.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the raids resulted in the arrests of three suspects aged between 21 and 23.

Also seized was cash amounting to RM219 and three phones.

The police have opened three investigation papers under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

He said all of the suspects will remain in custody for 14 days to facilitate investigations.

Ahsmon urged the public to continue channelling any gambling information, especially in Kuching.

They can channel information to the nearest police station.
