Additionally, the Sarawak government is also planning to provide a free tertiary education by 2026.
“All these demonstrate a forward-looking approach to human capital development. By prioritising education, the Sarawak government is not only fostering inclusive development, but also ensuring that every individual is equipped to contribute to the benefit of the state and its people.
“With proper and world class education every Sarawakian is able to secure his or her place under the sun, and no one is going to be left behind in pursuing greater prosperity and happiness.”
He also pointed out that Sarawak’s recognition of the United Examination Certificate (UEC) for civil service recruitment and adequate financial support for private Chinese schools underscore the government’s acknowledgment of the valuable contributions of the Chinese community in Sarawak.
These initiatives and programmes were introduced by the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, and continued with greater impact by Abang Johari; which reflects leadership with a deep respect for diversity and inclusivity within Sarawak, and what is more, and a deeper understanding of the eventual economic, social and political returns of Chinese education to Sarawak and its people.
“As Sarawak continues to forge ahead on its path of growth and development, the government’s commitment to economic prosperity, social justice and welfare, and the inclusive policies will remain unwavering.”
In Sarawak, he said, the acceptance of the rich tapestry of cultural and religious diversity naturally serves as a unifying force that binds the community together.
It has long been a cherished tradition to honour and celebrate each other’s festivals, fostering a sense of respect and unity among the multi-racial inhabitants of Sarawak.
This commitment to sharing and enjoying diverse festivities has been instrumental in creating a harmonious society, showcasing the unity in diversity that has become the hallmark of Sarawak.
