SIBU: The Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) celebrated the Chinese New Year (CNY) with a tea party at its premises today (Feb 17), hosting members and friends in a show of unity and tradition.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming, president of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce Sarawak Branch Wong Tin Kwong, and SCCCI chairman Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong.

During his welcoming address, Ling Soon King, a prominent figure at the SCCCI, reiterated the chamber’s commitment to the preservation and growth of Chinese business culture.

“With the arrival of the new year, we will progress together, striving for the improvement of our local economy,” said Ling, adding that the tea party’s role not just as a social gathering, but as a vital platform for future-oriented dialogue and joint development.

“Your active participation and support have filled this tea party with warmth and solidarity. We seize this moment to bolster member exchanges and cooperation, aiming for substantial business collaboration,” he added.
