KUCHING: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Sarawak has lost a respected political figure with the passing of the former Tuan Yang Di-pertua (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
“Throughout his tenure as the chief minister and later as the TYT, his close relationship with the federal administration and the prime minister at that time has brought about unabated development,” he said in his Facebook post.
In the meantime, former communication and multimedia minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa perceived the late Taib as a gem who has contributed immensely to Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.
“My family and I have lost a great friend who have been there for me and my family,” said Annuar Musa in his Facebook post.
“Condolences to the people of Sarawak and the family members of the late Tun Taib.
“May his soul be showered with mercy and placed among the believers and the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” he added.
