KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 24 haemodialysis machines worth RM987,600 will be distributed to 14 health facilities statewide.

In stating this, Women, Early Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said one of these machines worth RM41,150 has been allocated to

the Sarawak Heart Centre here.

“This haemodialysis machine assistance will be an add-on to the number of existing machines due to the increase in the number of patients undergoing treatment at the Sarawak Heart Centre,” she said.

She said this at the handing over of the haemodialysis machine at Sarawak Heart Centre here on Thursday.

She said last year, the Social Welfare Department of Sarawak had purchased a total of 24 haemodialysis machines.

“The placement locations for the 24 haemodialysis machines include one at the Sarawak Heart Centre, two at Lundu Hospital, one at Serian Hospital.

“Meanwhile, Betong Hospital will receive three machines as well as Debak Health Clinic (1), Saratok Hospital (1), Kanowit Hospital (1), Mukah Hospital (3), Dalat Hospital (1), Sarikei Hospital (2), Tatau Health Clinic (2), Bintulu Hospital (3), Limbang Hospital (1), and Lawas Hospital (2),” she said.

Fatimah also said that the support provided through the Special Kidney Patient Assistance (BKPBP) is part of the state government’s commitment to guarantee kidney patients in the state receive necessary treatment, while simultaneously easing the burden on targeted groups or individuals.

“Until last year, the state government has spent a total of RM6,944,780 covering 185 recipients of BKPBP, with the highest BKPBP expenditure recorded in 2022 at RM2,367,836.

“And last year also, we had 87 patients receiving services at Haemodialysis Units throughout Sarawak,” she said.

In an effort to combat the disease from spreading, Fatimah called on the public or medical agencies to jointly enhance the implementation of outreach programmes to raise awareness among the public.
