KUCHING: Enforcement officials from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) Sarawak confiscated counterfeit phone accessories valued at over RM100,000.
The ministry said that a joint operation, conducted in collaboration with the trademark holder’s representatives, took place in the city on Monday.
During the operation, the team raided four premises suspected of selling counterfeit phone accessories, leading to the seizure of numerous suspected fake items with an estimated total value of RM109,057.
The investigation into this case is proceeding under Section 102(1)(c) of the Trademarks Act 2019, which addresses the sale of goods bearing falsely applied trademarks.
Conviction under this section can result in a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM10,000 for each infringed item, or both.
