KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) is organizing a grand theatrical musical performance on the river as one of its upcoming mega-events.
Mayor Hilmy Othman has stated that DBKU is collaborating with Istana Budaya and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) to ensure the success of this theatre production.
Initially scheduled for this year, the event has been rescheduled to the following year after considering the various preparations required by Istana Budaya.
Mayor Hilmy explained, “There are numerous tasks involved, such as developing scripts and more. Therefore, it cannot be realized this year.
“Istana Budaya, known for its extensive experience in hosting events and festivals, has conducted thorough research on this matter.
“They have advised that the musical theatre cannot take place this year, so we have decided to hold it next year.”
During a special interview with the New Sarawak Tribune at DBKU headquarters on Monday (March 11), Hilmy further mentioned that the preparation process includes appointing a director and scriptwriter for the theatre, as well as selecting local and national actors.
The theatre performance will take place at night, complemented by captivating lighting along the river, providing visitors with a captivating and unique experience.
“This will be an extraordinary event that we are planning in collaboration with MOTAC and Istana Budaya,” Hilmy added.
