MERADONG: The Sarikei Division Health Office (DHO) today held a walkabout programme at the Ramadan bazaar here.

The walkabout was led by an officer of Sarikei DHO, Dr Johny Kelak who met with the traders to raise awareness on the importance of food safety and handling.

He also took the opportunity to distribute pamphlets to the traders, suggesting they adhere to the guidelines given.

“The purpose of the walkabout programme is to both educate and enforce the issue of food safety to the bazaar traders.

“In addition, activities such as stall inspections and food sampling will be conducted

next week. The aim is to ensure that traders adhere to food hygiene and safety practices,” he said.

He said that traders need to adhere to the provisions under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009 (PPKM 2009) and provide quality food to customers.

This programme was also attended by the Meradong and Julau District Council (MDMJ) members.     .
