KUCHING: The top management of Public Works Department (PWD) recently conducted a workshop to review its Balance Scorecard (BSC) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI).

The workshop was attended by Balanced Scorecard (BSC) Champions, Deputy Directors, Senior Principal Assistant Directors and Divisional Engineers to ensure that the objective aligned with the department’s goal.

PWD Sarawak director, Datuk Richard Tajan cited that through extensive discussions and presentations, all the department heads worked together to refine the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the Balanced Scorecard framework, including an in-depth examination of its formula.

“The measurements were refined to ensure they accurately mirrored the core values and priorities of the department,” he said in his speech during the opening ceremony of Workshop To Review on PWD Sarawak Balanced ScoreCard (BSC) held at a leading hotel here.

Richard also revealed that PWD experienced a notable decrease in the number of critically delayed state projects by the end of 2023, due to careful analysis and strategic deliberation by the department.

He urged all PWD officers to prioritise teamwork as the cornerstone of success.

“With collaboration and unity, we navigate challenges, overcome obstacles, and achieve our shared goal with unwavering determination and collective effort,” he said.

During the workshop, all the leaders meticulously evaluate and set new KPI, including a thorough review of the initiatives associated with each KPI to ensure it aligns with strategic objectives.

Additionally, the frequency of reporting for each KPI was also accessed to optimise communication channels among departments and ensure a timely dissemination of information.
