KUALA LUMPUR: The third week of the Dewan Rakyat sitting ended yesterday with the motion of thanks for the Royal Address being passed by a majority voice vote after being debated by 160 Members of Parliament since Feb 27.

Thirty ministries wound up the debate on the motion during the week, beginning with the Ministry of Finance and ending with the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

The sitting went smoothly throughout the week without any incident despite the many issues raised, including the cost of living, the economy, education and digital technology.

Among the issues that caught attention were the importation of dates from Israel and the proposal to make Kampung Baru a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Special Chambers session was also held this week following the motion brought forth by Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) on the need for Malaysia to send humanitarian aid to Palestine.

Three bills were also tabled for first reading this week, namely the Unclaimed Moneys (Amendment) Bill 2024, Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill 2024 and Supply (Reallocation of Appropriated Expenditure) Bill 2024.
