KUCHING: There is no additional charge for exchanging any brand of gas cylinder with Petros’ red-coloured ones as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is a controlled item, thus, it cannot be sold at a higher or discounted price.

And the price for gas refill is fixed at RM26.60.

But Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said it is necessary to note that the gazetted price of RM26.60 does not include delivery fees or charges of other services.

“Please do not get confused by some quarters who claimed that there are additional changes (for swapping to Petros)… any price discrepancies, it could be due to other services such as delivery fee or transportation cost,” he told the reporters after attending the Bubuk Lambuk programme organised by MBKS at the Stutong Ramadan Bazaar here Saturday.

The event officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, saw 500 packets of Bubur Lambuk distributed to the public and stall owners in conjunction with the Ramadan month.

Citing an example of sending a letter or document, Wee said, customers can opt for mail or courier services, but the charges will be different as well.

“You can choose to send by mail or courier but the price will be different as they are two different services. Just like how you want to swap your gas cylinder, if you want it delivered to your doorstep, it could cost more,” he explained.

Apart from that, Wee assured that there is sufficient supply of the Petros gas cylinders in town.

Therefore, he advised the public to go to the nearest dealer for more information.

In Sarawak, PetrosNiaga, the sole supplier of subsidised LPG effective Dec 1, 2023, has 65 dealers, with over 33 based in Kuching and 280 sub-dealers.

The public can find their nearest dealer through the PetrosNiaga website or by contacting 1300-88-2122.
