KUCHING: Veteran party members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) have been lauded and recognised for their contribution to the party’s development.
PBB secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the commitment and loyalty displayed among these veterans have contributed significantly to the many successes, achievements, and evolution of the party while still maintaining the original objectives of PBB’s establishment.
“The veterans from the PBB Mulu Branch have also made numerous contributions, whether directly or indirectly to PBB, and I, representing the entire party leadership, express our heartfelt gratitude,” he said.
He said this on a Facebook post after attending the ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ ceremony organised by the PBB Mulu Women’s Branch in Miri on Saturday.
Earlier, Nanta presented the certificates of retirement to the PBB veteran party members.
Nanta, who is also the Kapit MP, said that politicians continue to contribute in various capacities even after their active political careers.
“I am often asked, when will I retire from the political arena? I believe politicians never truly retire but rather gradually reduce their involvement.
“They (politicians) may think they have retired, but in reality, their involvement is merely reduced. Their voices, perspectives, and opinions are still needed to strengthen the party’s struggle,” he said.
