KUCHING: The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) has organised a breaking of fast event for 100 orphans in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
Apart from treating the orphans to a meal, STIDC also presented Hari Raya contributions in the form of cash.
The beneficiaries were selected from four primary schools and three tahfiz centres in Kuching and Samarahan.
These include Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Rakyat, Jalan Bolhasan; SK Meranek, Samarahan; SK Kampung Melayu, Samarahan; SK Rakyat Tupong, Petra Jaya; Mahad Darul Al Falah, Taman Rose, Jalan Perupok, Gita; Pusat Pengajian Tafaqquh dan Tahfiz Al-Makki, Kampung Semariang Pinggir; and Maahad Tahfiz Raudhatul Jannah, Kampung Seylang, Matang.
Held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) on yesterday evening (Mar 16), the donation presentation ceremony was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan who is also the Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development and Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment, as well as the Chairman of the STIDC Management Board.
He was accompanied by his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud.
The event also included an Iftar gathering, congregation of Maghrib prayers, Isyak, and Terawih, involving 800 employees along with STIDC family members, subsidiaries, and invited guests.
Also present at the event were members of the STIDC Management Board, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, STIDC Advisor Datuk Hashim Bojet and STIDC chief executive officer (CEO) Zainal Abidin Abdullah.
