MUKAH: A 16-year-old teenager were among three persons detained by the local police for involvement in drugs on Tuesday.
According to the Mukah District Police Chief DSP Jimmy Ak Panyau, the teenager was arrested near the junction of Polytechnic Mukah along Mukah-Oya Road.
“He was arrested by our men at about 1am (0102 hrs) on Jan 8 after behaving suspiciously.
“The police seized a small transparent straw containing a crystal-like item believed to be the drug, methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.10gm from a black sling bag he was carrying,” he said.
In a press statement released yesterday afternoon, Jimmy said the young suspect had been detained at the Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah).
“The urine test conducted on him was also drug positive and now he is being investigated under Section 12(2) Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) DDA 1952, and remanded for four days from Jan 8 to 12,” added Jimmy.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old youth was also arrested at about 11.15am in front of the old Giat MARA building here.
“The police found and seized a transparent small packet containing crystal item believed to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.72gm from there. After that, the suspect was taken to the unnumbered house at Kpg Sg Pegei,” revealed Jimmy.
During a search at the house, the police, he explained, seized a red transparent small straw containing a drug believed to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.12gm.
“The police also arrested another 17-year-old youth from the house and both of the suspects were brought to the police station. A urine test conducted on the 19-year-old was drug positive and the younger one negative,” added Jimmy.
He said the two suspects were being investigated under Section 12(2) Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) DDA 1952.
“A remand application will be made for the two suspects on Jan 9,” he disclosed.
