Those who have cautiously done no more than they believed possible have never taken a single step forward.

Mikhail Bakunin, Russian revolutionary anarchist

Angels

“There are angels amongst us. They don’t have wings. They look just like us.
But …
they stand straighter than most of us. A ramrod backbone carved out of strict principles and a sense of justice.

They fly unsullied and unwinged high above the low morals of the men they live side by side with.

The magnificent power of the wand they wield is unimaginably awesome. It is the power that comes from deep within – the God that resides within and the love for all that’s good, and honourable.

In a jaded world, these angels are your everyday superheroes.

They look just like you and I…”

To all the angels who have graced my experience with their wands.

What does it take to be an entrepreneur?

The confidence of a God.

To tell yourself constantly that you are the creator of your world – that it begins and end with you. To start a religion of followers. To be responsible for all you create…and sustain that creation…and that following you have garnered.

To understand that people think you are infallible. That they expect you not to crumble under the 360 degree pressure of all sides: of managing clients expectations, your staff expectation, the shareholders expectations, your family’s expectation…but most of all, the most critical and unforgiving one – your expectations.

To have your back against the wall and know you just need to keep fighting.

To constantly be afraid of failing but always fighting one more round, knowing that he who fights one more round is never defeated.

And that is why…you can NEVER teach entrepreneurship. You have to take the plunge and either sink or swim.

With the confidence of a God.

Back to basics

If I were dictator of the world, I would close down the mega slaughterhouses we have now. Anyone caught doing otherwise will be sent to a small slaughterhouse purpose built to show humans what living in a slaughterhouse feels like.

Small farms will grow again. Farmers will farm animals organically like they used to do, and animals will be allowed to roam and eat grass in open spaces and farmers will feed their neighbourhoods as they once did.

Meat may not be cheap but it won’t be controlled by a few and subject to toxins and preservatives that kill us faster either.

The scarce availability of meat will allow rainforests and land cleared to feed slaughter animals, free to grow food for people again.

I will make it unlawful to kill animals in the street for any traditions or rituals…to really humanise our kids that taking a life against their will and causing pain and terror in that lifeform while we cheer and jeer is just so low and unfeeling and well, base.

Once we are done with our fight against racism, let’s move on to what we are horrifyingly guilty of – speciesism. The idea that we can take at will and inflict any amount of sadism on beings that cannot fight back just because there are no laws to protect them.

To make us feel good about this carnage, we say with puffed up self-importance that animals are put on earth for our use. That they have no souls. And worse, they don’t feel or know anything and that is their rightful place – to serve the needs of man.

Once upon a time they said that about women and slaves too.

Love what you do

What excites you the most? What drives you? What makes your heart sing? What makes you wake up in the morning with a spring in your step raring to go? What is it that makes the daily bump and grind and daily losses and sadness and failures not daunt you and get you down?

Whatever that is, THAT’S what you should be doing as a job.

And then, it stops being a job. It becomes an integral part of your life. You stop living behind the cages of work-life balance because you just LOVE your job, and it brings you its own unique excitement.

For me, it’s to create. Words, concepts, ideas, missions, visions, transformations…creating executable visions for clients. And making a difference. Making an impact. To go beyond the ordinary, to fly on dreams that may seem too big to even think about…but then whatever the human mind can perceive, the human mind can achieve.
