KUCHING: Sarawak welcomed the arrival of the first cruise ship of the year, the Silver Shadow, as it docked at Senari Port today.
The vessel, part of its journey to Hong Kong, arrived with 598 passengers and crew members at 6.15 am.
A selection of 296 passengers experienced a vibrant welcome, complete with traditional garlanding, before embarking on shore excursions. These excursions included visits to notable attractions such as the Bako National Park, Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, Sarawak Cultural Village, Borneo Cultures Museum, and a panoramic tour of Kuching City.
The Silver Shadow is scheduled to depart Kuching yesterday evening (Mar 25), continuing its voyage to Kota Kinabalu.
Its itinerary also includes stops in Saigon and Da Nang, Vietnam, before its expected arrival in Hong Kong on April 4.
The majority of the ship’s passengers hail from a diverse array of countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Austria.
Operated by the U.S.-based SilverSea Cruises, the Silver Shadow boasts 302 crew members. Featuring 10 decks, the ship is equipped with 194 staterooms, three restaurants, seven lounges and bars, among other facilities, designed to accommodate up to 466 passengers.
