SIBU: The Jalan Oya Phase 1 upgrading works progress remains on schedule, said its implementing agency, the Land and Survey Department (L&S).
The department said the actual physical progress of the project stands at 81.72 per cent against the scheduled progress of 87.25 per cent, which is still on track.
“Notably, significant milestones regarding the relocation and shifting of existing utilities have been achieved, with only the remaining water pipeline works by the Sibu Water Board slated for completion by May 2024,” it said in a statement.
The department also said that concurrently, road construction efforts are continuing as planned, with traffic diversion preparations underway to facilitate the closure of the existing carriageway for upgrading, expected in May 2024.
The completion date for the road project is scheduled for Nov 25.
“We reaffirm our commitment to expedite the project with a steadfast focus on safety, efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards.
“We extend our gratitude to the public for their understanding and patience throughout the construction period,” said the department.
The upgrading works involved stretching from Jalan Deshon until Jalan Pahlawan traffic light junction should be complete last year.
However, due to the tedious and complicated underground service shifting and relocation works, the upgrading job on the 1.4-km Jalan Oya project is experiencing delay.
