SARATOK: The Pangkah Gasing Kalaka Competition, scheduled for April 26-28, is calling on enthusiasts of the traditional sport to participate and compete for the 2024 Aidilfitri Cup and a prize pool of RM2,500.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, said the event, which is organised by his service centre in collaboration with the Kenyalang Saratok Arena Committee.
“Saratok will proudly host the event at the Kenyalang Saratok Arena. Our goal is to unite gasing fans from various regions and enhance Saratok’s reputation as a premier venue for the sport,” he told Suara Sarawak.
The competition aligns with the festive ‘mood’ of the holiday season, requiring all participants to don Aidilfitri attire.
“Teams will consist of four members each, with an entry fee of RM50 per team. It’s mandatory for players to wear traditional Malay attire or kurtas and shoes in celebration of the Aidilfitri festival,” he added.
The champion will take home RM1,000 and a medal. The second-place winner will receive RM700 and a medal, and the third and fourth places will get RM500 and RM300 respectively, each accompanied by a medal.
