MATU: Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya says the new road project behind Kampung Bawang here is nearing completion, aimed at enhancing residents’ accessibility.
He mentioned that the project is being executed concurrently with the one behind Kampung Tian. However, both projects have faced delays due to water originating from the forest flooding the area.
“To address this issue, we have initiated a river cleaning project from Sekaan Kecil to Kampung Bawang,” he explained.
“Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved an allocation of over RM800,000.
The cheque handover to the Matu and Daro District Council (MDMD) for the river cleaning project is scheduled for next week.
“We are optimistic about the timely completion of the road project, as it will pave the way for potential future developments,” Juanda added during the Hari Raya gathering organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Bawang Hulu, Kampung Bawang Hilir and Kampung Sekaan Kecil, held at Kampung Bawang.
Regarding the resurfacing project of the Kampung Bawang road, he mentioned it will be included in next year’s Rural Transformation Project grant or funded through MDMD for projects under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) or any other allocation.
The event also witnessed Juanda spreading the joy of Eid to the attending community by distributing Duit Raya.
