KUCHING: Three government bills will be tabled during the first meeting of the third term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, which is scheduled for May 6 to 15.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said among the bills are related to forestry, supplementary bill and to enact the new Sarawak Ports Authority bill.
“Yes, there are, I think three bills to be presented. One is something to do with forestry. And another one is on supplementary bill because we have to have sufficient budget for our Malaysia Games (SUKMA),” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after attending the Sarawak Energy (SEB)’s Ramah Tamah Aidilfitrit at Menara Sarawak Energy here on Thursday.
When pressed for further details on the bill related to forestry, Abang Johari said the details would be revealed during the DUN sitting later on.
“Wait for it, I will explain it during the sitting. It’s too early to say it. But there are three bills. The other one has to do with the port,” he said.
Meanwhile, in his speech earlier, Abang Johari said he would be in Bangkok, Thailand on May 18 to address his sharing on energy development.
“God’s willing, on May 18, I will be sharing on energy development, particularly focusing on the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
“This presents an opportunity to convey our views to others outside the country. So, when I go there, I will be the agent for Sarawak as well as SEB,” said Abang Johari.
