THE Sarawak government has approved RM1.4 million to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets.

Deputy Minister of Public Health and Housing Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said the ministry is currently engaging with URBANICE Malaysia for the production of the SDGs Roadmap for 25 local authorities.

“The SDGs Cities Roadmap aims to provide an understanding of local progress, including initiatives and policy responses that we have implemented and issues challenges related to achieving the SDGs at local level perspective.

“The roadmap  is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025,” said Penguang while responding to Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How who asked on the support from the federal and the state governments to assist the councils to achieve the 17 SDGs and 169 targets enumerated in the Global of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“In order to enable the local authorities in Sarawak to effectively implement their Localised SDGs, three city roadmaps will be prepared, namely the Sarawak SDG City Council Roadmap, the Sarawak SDG Municipal Council Roadmap and the Sarawak SDG District Council Roadmap.
