THE Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) unanimously passed the Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill, 2024 allowing an additional expenditure of RM267,928,353 on the fourth day of the DUN sitting today.

The Bill’s Second Supplementary Estimates of Ordinary Expenditure, 2023 was tabled by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the Second Finance and New Economy Minister.

“The Bill sought approval for an additional expenditure to meet the cost of various services incurred by various Ministries and Departments for which funds were not provided for or insufficient provided for in the 2023 Estimates,” he said when tabling the said Bill.

On the Committee of Supply the Second Supplementary Estimates of Development Expenditures, 2023, he stated that there are 44 sub-activities and 51 other activities which required additional provisions that amounted to RM17,400,520.

Earlier, the Bill was seconded by Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

According to Uggah, the First Supplementary Estimates of Ordinary Expenditure 2024 comprised an additional sum of RM246,073,650. This amount includes specific allocations for the following:

Sarawak Premier Department

• RM42,000,000 for rental of office building;
• RM30,000,000 for operating grant for i-CATS University College;
• RM19,200,000 for operating grant for the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS);
• RM9,240,000 for operating grant for Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS);
• RM6,046,000 for facilities Management Services (FMS) for government office complex; and
• RM6,000,000 for grant to Sarawak Foundation for Local Scholarship Programmes.

Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development

• RM78,000,000 for the management of Malaysian Games (SUKMA) XXI Sarawak 2024.

Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development

• RM16,049,000 to organise Para SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024.

State Social Welfare Department

• RM15,595,000 for athlete preparation for Para SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024.

Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts

• RM8,000,000 for the Heritage, Arts, and Culture Facilitation Fund.

Irrigation and Drainage Department

• RM7,000,000 for the maintenance of main drainage systems throughout Sarawak.

Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government

• RM2,576,900 for Longhouse Loan Scheme in Sarawak; and
• RM2,781,750 for overseas conference and study visits.

Ministry of Transport

• RM3,585,000 for overseas conferences and study visits.
