KUCHING: The Sarawak government through the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) has allocated an additional fund of RM4 million in the first quarter of 2024 to Agrobank for the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme (SKMS).
The disbursement of the additional fund was officiated by MINTRED advisor, Datuk Seri Mohd Naroden Majais to Agrobank chief executive officer (CEO) Syed Hairul Anuar Syed Fadzil at the Agrobank Hari Raya Open House event here today.
The event was also attended by Deputy Premier cum MINTRED minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
For the record, a total of 202 applications amounting to RM7.13 million have been approved through SKMS in 2024.
Meanwhile, Agrobank has also approved financing under a joint venture project between the State Farmers’ Organisation Sarawak and Sea Horse Corporation, namely Rambungan Aqua Life Sdn Bhd.
The financing is to finance a large-scale commercial prawn farming project.
The symbolic grant handover was carried out by Agrobank Sarawak regional director Abdul Halek Abdullah to CEO of Rambungan Aqua Life Sdn Bhd, Sim Ing Jye.
