KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has urged the new generation of Persaudaraan Masjid Bintangor and Haji Taha (MBHT) to seek opportunities and strategies in line with the current direction of the government.

He said that it is important to develop the MBHT area, which is considered strategically important and iconic here.

“Congratulations to the organisers for holding today’s event in your efforts to strengthen the bonds of kinship among the residents.

“MBHT has been in existence for 77 years, and since then, the past leaders have established Bolhassan People’s School and STAR Secondary School in Matang, as well as various social, recreational, and sports activities, which have produced many leaders in Sarawak,” he said.

He said this during the MBHT’s Aidilfitri gathering held here on Friday night.

Meanwhile, on the area, Abang Johari said a lot of development has been done and is being  planned.

“The HIKMAH Exhange Smart Building has been established, and the former residence of Datuk Patinggi Abdillah has been reclaimed as the Malay Heritage Building on Jalan Haji Taha, along with the construction of a new bridge in Kampung Bintangor, and the upcoming main ART Station located near the mosque, as well as the construction of a new hotel at the site of Hotel Arif,” he said.
